My name is Marina. Our family consists of three people: my husband Alexander, our daughter Alice, and me.
Almost three years ago, we came to the United States through the CBP One program, seeking political asylum. We were waiting for our immigration court hearing, which was scheduled for 2028. Throughout this time, we worked hard, studied, paid taxes, and followed the law.
For the past two years, my husband Sasha has worked as a truck driver, spending weeks away from home to provide for our family. During his entire time on the road, he never had a single violation, including during truck safety inspections. We have always faced our challenges on our own and have never asked anyone for financial help.
But during a routine traffic stop in Arkansas, Sasha was detained. He is now in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Our lives changed in an instant.
My daughter and I were left alone, not knowing exactly where our loved one was being held, what was happening to him, or when we would be able to hug him again.
Sasha was the sole provider for our family, and I am currently studying to become a Medical Assistant. We have no relatives in the United States, and since my husband's detention, our family has been left without an income.
I am urgently looking for any available job, but our essential monthly payments for rent and our financed car alone total $3,000, not including groceries, insurance, and other living expenses.
For the first time in our lives, we truly need your help.
Our most urgent priority is to hire an immigration attorney who can defend Sasha's rights and fight for his release.
My daughter and I also need temporary financial support to keep a roof over our heads and get through this difficult time while I search for employment.
We are not asking anyone to support our family indefinitely. We are simply asking for a chance to get through this crisis, regain our financial stability, and rebuild our lives.
More than anything, we want Sasha to come home so our daughter can hug her dad again.
Any donation, no matter how small, or simply sharing our story would mean more to us than words can express.
If anyone knows of job opportunities or can offer me employment, I would be deeply grateful. I am currently trying to sign up for delivery work so I can start earning money as soon as possible.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who cares, supports us, or helps share our story.
With gratitude,
Marina and Alice!
